Grade 12 University level english is very important no matter what path you may choose

Should grade 12 university level English be a requirement for entry into all university level programs. Absolutely. I believe that English is a very important part of any course you take. You will use English for the rest of your life, whether you pour coffee at Tim Horton's or you are a rocket scientist. It is very important that you have good communication skills while you go through life.

When you go to university, you will need to write very well, no matter what course you are taking. These skills can be learned through taking grade 12 English. Universities only accept students who are very knowledgeable and know how to communicate clearly. They want the best of the best. If you don't have your grade 12 university level English, you can say goodbye to getting into any university. If I'm not mistaken, universities require you to take a English course no matter what program you are going into, which would be very difficult to do a good job at, if you don't have your ENG4U. I would definitely not like to go into a university without having done this course. With strong English skills, you can excel in any career you should choose. With a college level English you wont get the necessary skills you will need at university.

The requirements for a university level engineering course at McMaster university requires grade 12 university level English, functions, calculus & vectors, chemistry, and physics. Without any of those courses, they will throw your application in the garbage. You can view the admission requirements from the link below.

If you are aiming for the top, ENG4U is the way to go.

  1. I agree with what you are saying. English is a very important subject, and without it you will not go very far. Even as an engineer, you must have very good English skills.
